Which coffee to choose?
Complete a simple quiz to help you find the perfect coffee!
We try not to keep coffee on the shelves for long, so if we don't have a particular coffee in stock, we have to replenish the order after the roasting day. We roast on Tuesdays and Thursdays, pack the coffee and send it out on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Kianderi Wash Station is located at the foot of Mount Kenya, near Kerugoya township, Kirinyaga County. It is part of the Inoi farmers' cooperative and is located at an altitude of 1650 to 1800 metres above sea level. The coffee fruits processed by the station are sourced from around 900 active members of the cooperative.
Kirinyaga County, about 190 kilometres northeast of Nairobi, borders Nyeri and Embu counties. It is one of the most fertile places in the country - the high altitude and red volcanic soils are conducive to the production of high quality coffee. Farmers in this region mainly grow SL28, SL34, Batian and Ruiru 11 varieties.
Once the cherries arrive at the Kianderi station, they are hand-sorted to remove unripe, damaged and defective fruit. The cherries are then depulped and the parchment fermented overnight before being rinsed and sorted into four quality grades: P1, P2, P3 and P light. Drying takes between 10 and 20 days.
